Frequently Asked Questions
If we were looking to join a guild, we’d have some questions. Here are some of them.
Why do you need me to apply via Guilds of WoW to raid?
Guilds of WoW allows us to track rosters, attendance, gearing, and so much more. These features mean that we spend less time on administration, and more time on running successful teams capable of meeting goals.
This requirement doesn’t mean that you can’t drop in if Raid Leaders agree to let you tag along, but if you expect a regular raid spot, then a Guilds of Wow application is mandatory.
What’s the Schedule?
At present, the guild’s “active hours” are evenings, from about 4pm until 11pm Pacific Time. This is obviously our chosen hobby, so we’re usually around most weekends as well. See our Raid Info for specific team schedules.
Who is Epicism for?
We’d love to say that Epicism is for everyone, but that’s just not true. Some people won’t like us at all. We chalk this up to people being like flavors. Some folks are lima beans. Some are chocolate. Some are black licorice. We don’t like everyone, and everyone doesn’t like us—and that’s okay.
As for who Epicism is for, well… it’s who it’s for. We are adults with responsibilities who come here to escape an increasingly chaotic world. Our aim is not to turn WoW into another obligation, but to have fun with cool people who want to have fun.
We can tell you straight up who it isn’t for. It isn’t for assholes. It isn’t for toxic gamerbros. It definitely isn’t for creepy dudes who think that WoW is some kind of dating service. Seriously fellas, there are thousand apps for that. Go find one and leave us alone.
You mentioned raids. What’s our philosophy there?
Epicism serves as something of an umbrella for our incredible raid teams, which are given full autonomy to conduct their raids however they see fit. Schedule, loot rules, and culture are all determined by our raid leaders, and all in keeping with Epicism’s primary DBAA philosophy. Each team runs their own progression and mostly does their own thing. For more information about raiding in Epicism, click here.
Are you casual? Hardcore? Hybrid?
There’s a sweet spot in between casual and hardcore that die-hard hardcore players will describe as casual, but is actually mid-core. We’re aiming for that.
Tell me about Comms.
Epicism mostly occurs in Discord, where our members hang out regularly to play this, and other games. Every member of our guild is cordially invited to hang out there, even if it’s just to listen in to the shenanigans. We also have a backchannel for those who want to learn more.
What’s it like?
This is the part where a proud GM gets to rave about the quality of the people who carry the Epicism banner. We have spent an inordinate amount of time in a great many guilds over the years. In terms of the quality of the people in our midst here, second place is not even close. This is the most fun we have ever had playing this, or any other game. Kindness is how we roll, and it has created a safe environment where people can truly be themselves no matter who they are.
Of course, that we’re nice doesn’t mean we don’t know how to tell people to f*ck off. When problems arise, they are swiftly dealt with. We’ve created the sandbox. Our players build their castles, and our leadership removes the occasional turd.
What if I have another question?
You have a couple of options. Hit up epicismgale in Discord and Gale will reply ASAP. Or you can try your luck at spam filter evasion by emailing gm@epicism.com.
